The BES update, released today, fixes a number of issues in the last version of BES and adds a variety of new features and enhancements. Among the assumed fixes is a solution to the mail-folder-related problem that forced RIM to pull BES 5.0 MR3 for Lotus Domino last month, though that specific fix is not mentioned in the BES 5.0 SP1 release notes.
BES 5.0 SP1 includes a number of tweaks to the BlackBerry Monitoring Service, which helps keep organizations' BES boxes up and running, including new sections for performance data and user stats, graphs, messaging server mappings and more, according to RIM.

Thats right folks, one of the most intriguing things to come out of Dev Con 2009 was the announcement from RIM that they would be retiring Plazmic the design tool that theme makers used to build us the awesome themes we have become accustomed to using.
We all have experianced the problems our themes have had with OS 5.0 well this new Theme Maker will allow theme makers to fix those problems as well as adding even more goodies into our themes including multiple screen transitions, zooming, and fading to just name a few. This new Theme Developer Studio will be compatible with all devices running OS 4.2 or greater. Are you excited? I know I am.

Slacker has released v2.0.91 for its popular internet radio app. Users have reported that 5.0 has not been playing nice with Slacker so hopefully this will resolve some of those issues.

The wait is over people, OS 5.0 has been officially released! Verizon has become the first carrier to launch a 5.0 OS, this one being OS 5.0.0.328 for the Blackberry Storm. This is an exciting day as 5.0 will put an end to 4.x which and is a huge step forward.
To download OS 5.0.0.328 you can either download the OS from the Megaupload link we posted in our previous story or you can hook up your Storms to your puter and install through Desktop Manager!

Thats right folks official documentation has leaked out of Verizon showing that MR3 or OS 5.0.0.328 will be released on October 25th! Guess that ends the debate over what comes first the chicken or the egg... er I mean a device with 5.0 or a 5.0 release for a current device. Based on 5.0.0.323, 5.0.0.328 can only be better which means great things for Storm users!

Wow I think that this may be a first. OS 5.0.0.288 has leaked for the Blackberry Storm 9520 and 5.0.0.296 has leaked for the Blackberry Bold 9700!.
Neither device has been released but it will be interesting to see what the hybrid makers can do with these files.

Here is an interesting bit of news to come out out of BerryReview this morning. It would appear that the Blackberry JDE 5.0 Beta 4 has been released by RIM. With this release one can only wonder how much longer it will be before RIM pulls the switch on the 4.x to 5.0 switch.
