UberTwitter Q&A

I recently asked Paul if he could spare some time and answer a few questions about UberTwitter and his plans for it.  These are the questions and his answers!

Q. Can you give us some insight in to the people behind ÜberTwitter?
A. I'm a single man operation right now, founder, developer, tech support.

Q. What was your original vision for the application and have you achieved that or do you strive to further enhance/develop it?
A. Originally started out as a client just for my own purposes, intent was to not have to go back to my desktop to do anything with Twitter.

Q. What are your long term plans for ÜberTwitter?
A. I plan to continue integrating new functionality, building it so you don't have to go back to the desktop.

Q. What drove you to start the ÜberTwitter project?
A. I personally was appalled that there wasn't a better twitter client for blackberry devices.

Q. I know why I will ALWAYS have ÜberTwitter on my blackberry, but what do you think is the main difference between ÜberTwitter and other twitter applications?
A. The main difference is our goal, as good or better then desktop applications.

Q. When doing a build, how do you decide what changes to make?
A. I base most if not all of the changes on user feedback, I answer every single one of the emails that are sent to us, so I have a good handle on the pulse of my users.

Q. Are you restricted only by your imagination, or are there limits to what you can or are allowed to create?
A. There are no limits, only mine and my users imaginations.

Q. Have you garnered any fame (or infamy) from your creation?
A. Not really, I pretty much stay behind my two directly associated accounts @ubertwiter and @codewarden

Q. When do you plan on branching out to other devices?
A. Soon, very soon.

Q. Which devices would be first (please say Android!)?
A. Android is very high on the list.

Q. Do you collaborate with other developers?
A. I do collaborate with other developers at other services; tweetphoto, twitlonger, whatthetrend

Q. Do you collaborate with Device Manufacturers (In this case RIM)?
A. No, there has been some interest, but nothing of substance yet.

Q. Can you give us some details of the features/enhancements we can expect going forward?
A. Saved searches
Ability to customize the uberbar with graphics
Ability to add options, trends, saved searches, lists, and other items to the uberbar.
   Integration with addtional photo services
   Multi-lingual releases.
   Upgraded UI

So, the long tall and short of it is that Paul does all the development of UT by himself.  User feedback is a huge part of what goes in to his work and what comes out the other end in the form of the UT versions released to the dev testers and ultimately the general public.

Special thanks to Paul for taking the time out of his very busy development schedule to answer these questions.
